Ali Golby – Green Officer
Hi there, I’m Ali Golby, a second year MML student, and I’m going to be the JCSU Environmental and Ethical Affairs (Green) Officer over the forthcoming year. My job entails working with both the college and the undergraduate student body to try and make Jesus a more sustainable college. I am also in charge of running GreenSoc- an undergraduate society that focusses on planning and undertaking environmental projects within the college. If you are keen to get involved, please do come along to our fortnightly meetings!
In terms of current projects that I am engaged in, I am working with Jesus’ fantastic catering manager to help improve the sustainability of Caff, and also the Roost Café Bar, where we are trying to make all the takeaway cups compostable. I am also supporting the Domestic Bursar’s aim to achieve a Gold Award for the college in the NUS’ GreenImpact scheme. I also hope to continue to roll out my predecessor’s compost bin scheme, hopefully getting a bin for every staircase in college, and to set up a staff-student committee to begin to work on the challenge of divestment of the college’s assets.
Hopefully that’s given you a brief insight into what I do as part of the JCSU! If you have have any questions feel free to email me at
